Week 312

Following the chronological order and the strict contractual obligation to write a blog every week, after my blog post from week 3, here now comes week 12.

Strictly speaking, there are a few weeks in between, but that just shows how relaxed Germans can be.

There hasn’t been that much going on anyway. In short: many elderly people were helped, many young people were bored, and I was sick – twice.

Over the past few weeks, things have started to feel more routine. The workshops with the elderly participants have become more relaxed, and I was able to get back into working with DaVinci Resolve quite easily — even though the first YouTube video turned out to be quite a long and difficult birth.

Despite the fixed ideas about what the YouTube videos should look like, I tried to add a bit of variety to them. Nuno liked the ideas but pointed out that constantly changing the style of the tutorials might end up looking chaotic — especially if the volunteers after me develop different styles or struggle to copy this one because they’re not as familiar with the editing software. Fair point.

Still, that makes the YouTube tutorials (and working on them) more monotonous.

In the end, we agreed to keep the videos simpler so the production process wouldn’t drag on in the future — or, to put it bluntly, to make the videos as boring as possible (even if the target audience is older people).

The next video tutorial was finished pretty quickly. I’ll probably try working in other areas here at Rato soon, since I don’t want to spend all my time creating YouTube tutorials.
