olà! Corroios can look like a little village without a lot of attractives.. But it isn't like this! If you look around, you can find hidden treasures.. As the Ecomuseum of Seixal. It is a groups of museums in the district of Seixal where you can find nice (and usually old) men that will explain you the story of that place, in portuguese but also in english! All of this museums are free. You can find: - Moinho de Maré de Corroios (tidal mill in Corroios). It is on the way to go to the school of Corroios. It is the white building on the water, with the red roof. Here you will see how in the past centuries portuguese people grind cereals using the power of the tide (the movement of the water of the sea) There are few buildings like this in all the Europe, and this one was working until 1995. - Núcleo da Mundet (cork factory), in Seixal. This is an amazing factory, the first in the production of cork in all the world. Here you will see the production cycle of the cork (from remove it from the trees and to the final products) It's crazy what people could do with this material.. For example the rich people in the XX century used the cork as a filter for cigarettes: this is the reason why today the filter of cigarettes has that colour. - Núcleo Naval, in Seixal. Here you will see little models of the different kind of boats that portugueses have here in this area. You will meet the man that build them. - Typography, in Seixal. Here an old cute man will explain you all the history of the print and the thypography. He will show you how people print in the different centuries with original machines. He will show also how create the fonts and the characters to print. You can take home examples of print.
