It pays off to be open

It´s been over two weeks since I have arrived in Portugal, but time feels like it´s moving differently here. By day we work at Rato and in the afternoons we always have something to do -usually it´s exploring the streets of Lisbon. I will be here for two months but even that time feels like it´s not enough to discover all of its secrets.

The Portugese usually take their time for everything and are not confrontational. I feel  like I got adjusted to this lifestyle very quickly. One more thing that I have noticied about the Portugese – they are very, very open and hospitable. So far we have experieced nothing but people going out of their way to make us feel welcome.

I have also learned a  few things about my own country since being here. It´s funny to hear how Poland is perceived from a perspective of Porteguese people. In comparison we are more eager to act and argue for our believes, but we could learn to let it go sometimes from our portuguese friends.

I have already learned a few technical skills since arriving here – before I have never worked with a film editing or audio recording software, or even WordPress. We also participated in workshops about Photoshop and use of a professional camera. I think basic knowledge in things like that will come in useful even after finishing the project.

One last thing that comes to my mind when I think of everything that has happened within the last two weeks – it pays off to be open. Open to people and open to new experiences. In a city like Lisbon new adventures lay behind every corner – you just have to be open enough to take them. When someone talks to you on the street keep the conversation going, try to go out of your way to meet new people and you never know where the day might take you.
