Setúbal

Last week I had an opportunity to visit some places in Portugal during my holiday. I saw a part of Lisbon, which I haven’t seen earlier, ate famous ice-creams and saw sunset in Cascais , admired beauty of the ocean in Cabo da Roca, I took a deep breath in Sintra during visiting Pena Palace, Moorish Castle and  I was in Setubal… The last direction was chosen by accident. I didn’t expect anything from this place but surprised me anyway. At first Port Setubal appeared as a place that was abandoned. Many places were closed and cause of this you may find in history of this place. In the beginning of previous century there were many factories and Setúbal was the most important center of Portugal’s fishing industry. Today none of these factories are operating.

The place that really surprised me was Fort of São Filipe. Way to reach this place was quite hard and from the outside it appeared as not welcoming, rather cold and boring place. But in fact besides beautiful views from there, there is also a delightful chapel which every fan of azulejos will appreciate. In Setubal there are also some beaches where you can rest a little bit or you can take a walk in the city and see many nice streets with local community.
