Another week has gone by and brought another discoveries and adventures.
In Rato I attended Photoshop training and edited a dialog video. I was able to learn a few new expressions in Portuguese too.
With my roommates and fellow volunteers I took another trips, this time we visited the neighbourhood. It was wonderful to finally try Pastel de Belém, admire Padrão dos Descobrimentos and travel by foot through the world´s map, dreaming of future journeys. Torre de Belém and Mosteiro dos Jerónimos were also really impressive at night but I´m planning to go back and explore these places inside.
Besides evenings in Belém, a trip to Lisbon during the day was a lot of fun as well. And a lot of walking but in the end I finally took a ride on famous tram 28. Before that we visited Alfama wondering why all the buildings have such small doors and admiring azulejos. We also saw Lisbon from the viewpoint – Miradouro de Santa Luzia, while listening to street performers, who surprisingly spoke Polish! Next to Castelo de São Jorge we found a few shops with beautiful handmade ceramics. At the end we tried coffee in the famous Café A Brasileira.
Although these trips were great, I also enjoyed going to Lisbon by myself to check out Museu Nacional do Azulejo. I really felt in love with this place! There were so many different types of tiles, it was truly impressive. I also tried out Elevador da Bica, which was a short but on of a kind experience.
Another day we decided to explore the other side of the river and walked the hills of Almada up to Cristo Rei statue, where we enjoyed the beautiful panorama of Lisbon behind Ponte 25 de Abril. It was great to visit both shores of Tagus and see the differences between them.
