It is always said that when you travel you come back with something more than what you left with, this can refer to something as literal as souvenirs as well as something more abstract such as the experiences and knowledge of new cultures that you meet on your trip or even, if You are willing to do so, it may be a combination of both, such as a hobby linked to the local culture of your destination.
When we are traveling we have an open mind to new things, we try new dishes, we do things that we would never do at home, we even perform actions that we would never have thought of doing, but when we return home we rarely continue doing it, we no longer try that dish that we loved, nor do we ever do that activity again, if during a trip we walk kilometers without complaining at home, we use transport for anything. We do not incorporate those things from travel into our daily lives and that can cause us to run out of things that may be our favorites.
This is the case of what I am going to tell you today, since on my last trip I discovered a new hobby that I love and that I did not know it existed until I arrived in Japan.
The story begins in Akihabara, officially the technological district of Tokyo, although worldwide known for being the geek neighborhood, there you can find stores that sell products from all the anime you can imagine, but there were some that caught my attention. In these stores they sold robot figures, although they were not like the rest of the figures that were sold since they had to be assembled.
If I talk to you about the Gundam franchise, it is very possible that you do not know what it is because they are not popular outside of Japan but surely you have seen the consequences of this popularity since the news recently came out that Japan had built a giant robot:
As you can see, they are quite impressive so I bought my first Gundam and when I returned home and assembled it, I finished hooking it up since I thought it was great how you had to assemble it completely and the end result.
Since then I have already assembled several more. I believe that they are a good method to disconnect and have a good time.
This is an example that it is possible to incorporate these curiosities that you discover in your travels to your normal life so the next time you do it, be prepared to return something new to your lives. For my part, I’m looking forward to knowing the new hobby that Portugal could give me.
