Catching a Few Sunny Days in March

Last week we had an international dinner in Rato. It was a very cool event, everybody cooked their traditional cuisine and we were tasting them all together. I cooked ‘draniki’. Basically these are potato pancakes. To cook them you just need to grate potatoes, add 1-2 eggs, some flour and salt, pepper etc. according to your taste, then just fry them on a pan one by one like pancakes. They are always tasty and super easy! We tried many Portuguese cuisine on that day, Mimi also brought some Turkish sweets and they were very tasty! After that event I realized that I ate too much and I can barely move, but we still had to go to Portuguese class with Nuno. The class was very funny, Nuno is always creative about these classes and you never know what to expect from it, I really like his attitude! That time he put a sheet on his head for not being able to see anything around and the students had to help him to get to the class telling him directions in Portuguese only. I think we all are learning faster in stressful situations like this.

That week the weather was not so good as you could read from my previous post, that’s why as soon as we saw the sun on Friday we started to think about going to the beach. After work and a Portuguese class with Nuno we took a taxi to Costa da Caparica to be at the beach before sunset. The sunset was stunning and the waves were big as usual! We were extremely happy standing there watching the sun goes down.

On Saturday we had a continuation of last week CV workshop. This time there were more people, and we had a task to make a list of jobs that could be suitable for a person according to his/her interests, skills and qualities. I really liked to make up occupations for others, it’s much easier than making it to yourself.

After it we went to Lisbon to take advantage of good weather again. There we took a walk and then spent an evening on Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, where we went with some friends and got to know some group of people from Holland. They were very friendly and funny, so time flied by really fast. On Sunday it was raining a lot, so we spent a calm day at home.

On Monday we first went to the shopping mall and after it Mimi and I went to Lisbon. Days are becoming longer and longer, so we were able to see a few places before sunset. It was sunny again, although a little bit windy. We visited a couple of viewpoints and finished our evening on Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara again. In my opinion, this is the best place to sit down and chill in Lisbon, because it has a lot of space, so it’s not so crowded as other viewpoints, there’re many benches to sit, you have an amazing view, it’s not windy and it’s in the very city center, so it’s easy to get there and easy to come back home later. But probably we will discover even cooler places later.

Today I finally went to a yoga class in Lisbon! I’ve planning to do this since my first days here, but all the classes are quite expensive comparing to Poland, so I had to do some research before I found something I can afford, and accidentally I found a studio called Ministry of Yoga, which has donation classes every Tuesday and also all the classes they make are in English! So I went there today and I really liked the class, it was very private as the studio is quite small, so there were only 4 people and a teacher. Hope I’ll be able to attend these classes every week!
