Volunteering as a way to development

One of the tasks during volunteering is to help and support during the realisation of workshops, among others, carried out in schools to promote international mobility opportunities for young people. This week I also had the opportunity to participate in them.  During the workshops there is also time to promote volunteering, of which I am a part. I could explain to the young students about the opportunities they have and what they can learn. I could tell them about how the project has affected me and my personality, and encourage them to participate when they are ready to do so. It was very nice to see the interest in this opportunity among the students. Of course, I encouraged people to apply, as these are great opportunities for each individual.

At the moment, I am enjoying the opportunities I have in the ‘Rato’ organisation, where I can improve my current skills and interests as well as learn new things. I have learnt a lot of new computer software for graphic and multimedia editing, among other things. I have recently started to work on creating a website, which I really enjoy, as even before coming here I was thinking of developing in this direction.

Of course, throughout the project we are not only improving our practical skills, we are also working on our personality and soft skills, which are later equally important in our future life and work.
To take part in the project, you do not need any professional experience, specialised education or knowledge of a foreign language – anyone can apply! Volunteering is a great prelude to a professional career, a way of fulfilling your ambitions, a way of developing your passions, the start of an adventure to work for the benefit of others. Afterwards, you get a sense of fulfilment and satisfaction that you are helping someone and know that they can count on you.
