On the trail of miradouros

Miradouros are nothing else than viewpoints that are very attractive not only for the tourists but also for the locals. The most characteristic trait for all of them is the fact that they are located in elevated spots so reaching them involves a lot of climbing up. I don´t even bother to do some exercises here because walking in Lisbon itself feels like a workout for me.

Before coming to Portugal I looked up some miradouros with the most stunning views and obviously I had to go to all of them. Here are the ones I recommend the most.

1. Miradouro de Santa Luzia

This miradouro not only offers a stunning view but also a really cute terrace, where you can come to chill with your friends or on your own. The terrace building has an interesting pattern that looks typically Portugese. The pinkish flowers go amazingly with the ancient looking columns.

It´s important to keep in mind that sunsets are not visible from this viewpoint. However, with all the stunning views, this miradouro is definitely worth adding to your list.

2. Miradouro da Senhora do Monte

It´s my personal favourite because of its amazing view at the whole city and even more! From this miradouro we can see the most of the surrounding area, including the Ponte de 25 Abril and Cristo Rei, which are located on the other side of the river Tejo.

I can confidently say that from this miradouro I have seen the best sunsets. The vibe of this place is amazing. Here you will watch the sunset with live Portuguese in the background. And once the sun sets, everybody starts clapping 🙂

3. Miradouro da Graça

This miradouro has a really similar view to the Miradouro da Senhora do Monte but “zoomed-in”. It´s less crowded than the Senhora viewpoint. Moreover, there is an outside bar, where you can order something to drink or to eat in order to enjoy the pretty views even more.

There are way more miradouros but these are my recommendations. According to legends Lisboa, along with Rome, is known as the city of 7 hills. From my monthly experience here, I can conclude that anything here can be a miradouro if you climb up a bit :))
