Olá a todos !
August is advancing slowly but surely. The schedule for Festa de Corroios has been given to us . We will work until midnight ! Since we will work during a day off, we have one more free day to take during the week following the event. I already know when I’m going to use it, I can’t wait ! I wonder what will happen during this festival. I hope it will be fun, even if we don’t participate as guests.
On top of working on my personal project, I also dedicate one afternoon of learning Portuguese (self-learning). I do two things: I listen to podcast and follow along the text. I also read a book I borrowed from our Portuguese teacher – Erminia – called “O diário secreto de Adrian Mole aos 13 anos e 3/4” by Sue Townsend and whenever I don’t understand a word or a sentence, I go on linglee to translate it. I think the kid in this diary is a neglected child, that much I understood.
Learning a new language is fun, but I think I need a structured learning plan. Otherwise, I won’t progress. On the side though, I try to speak portuguese with locals on my everyday life or I try to understand them as much as I can. It’s not easy and I wonder how much time and dedication one need to master a language? I will have to dig into those questions for my personal project, which I will tell you about later !
