Last week I decided to go on a solo trip to Sevilla because I found a great deal for transportation tickets and accomodation. When my Spanish teacher found out that I was going to Portugal to volunteer, she also advised me to go to Sevilla. The only thing she didn´t warn me about was how hot it gets there in the summer time. After booking everything I checked the weather there out of curiosity. When I saw 42°C for every signle day, I was a bit shocked.
My initial plan was to stay there for 1 night only, however it would have cost as much as a trip for 2 nights, so I decided to stay there longer (for three days in total). I took a Flixbus at 11 PM and woke up at 7 AM in Sevilla, Spain.
It was really surprising for me how small Sevilla is, when it comes to its area. In the first two hours of walking round I walked through half of the city and saw many places that I was aiming to see.
My list of the places to see there included the Cathedral, the square, the Plaza de España (where a scene of “Star Wars” was filmed!), the Alcazar and multiple parks.
The best cultural experience you can get there is watching a Flamenco show. However, they usually cost. I did get to watch one for free with a German friend that I made at the bar called “Carboneria”. I really enjoyed it even though it was short. I admire people who dance wearing a whole costume in that temperatures.
I loved Sevilla´s architecture and I am glad that I have seen everything there. To answer my initial question, yes, I would say it is doable to visit this Andaluzian city despite the 40 degrees. There are a lot of fountains in the city, and at least less crowds!
