Back in classroom

    Olá! It´s Anna again!

Here is a quick recap of my week.

This week started out exciting. We had the chance to participate in school activities with Nuno. I got to see how he teaches and inspires the youth.

I learned how to include the hole classroom in the conversation. I also learned to overcome fear of talking in front of a classroom. It might not seem like that, but for me it´s hard to do. For a second or two I forget every word I wanted to say, my mind goes blank. I had to overcome this. I’m glad to do it with Nuno, he knows how to gently push me out of my comfort zone.

It was fascinating to observe the classroom. It’s truly interesting to see yourself in these kids. To see your friends in them and the dynamic in the class. It healed a part of me that I didn’t know needed heeling.

Now I’ve been to Lisbon two times. I got to say- Lisbon is much prettier at night. It might just be because of the season or the company I was with. At night the city has a different atmosphere.

This week I started to learn more about video editing. I must say- I can not work with computers. I’m learning anger management along with the software. It’s like I do everything right, like I’m supposed to, but nothing works. For example: my latest problem is not being able to cut the video in half. I could do it before. Its things like these that really test my patience and my problem-solving skills.

One thing surprised me about Portugal. In Latvia the Womens day is a day like Valentine or Mother’s Day, but here me and Adrija were the only ones to mention it.

There was this one incident that i don´t want to forget. In one school where we were doing some activities there were some Erasmus students that we were told were from Latvia. We went to meet them, talk a little. I said “Hello!” in Latvian, they did not respond. At first I thought they were joking around, so I kept speaking in my language. There was this moment when we realized that they are not kidding, they really were not from Latvia. They were Lithuanian. It seems that Portuguese people think that Latvia and Lithuania is the same place.

This is it for this week. I really want to stop writing and go learn some of graphic facilitation while I have the time.

Tchaaau!
