My first blog

??

Hello my name is Theo, I´m from in north of the French, I live in Armentieres It´s near Lille who is a beautiful and big city. I´m 21 years old and I´m a voluntary for Rato – ADCC.

Last year after 2 years of higher education I wanted to take a break and go abroad, then I heard about l´Adice an association which brings international mobility to life with different programs.

This association allowed me to go on mobility with Rato – ADCC, It´s for my opportunity to have news experiences.

I´m arrived here the 13/04/2024 and I´m here for 2 months and I hope this will be a great adventure.

When I´m arrived in Lisbon, the rain it was present, I felt like I hadn´t left the north of France because it rains there almost every day over there ahah. After taking the plane, I took the bus, the train then another bus to meet my new roommates in my new apartement for 2 months.

It´s was Savas who welcomed me, he introduced me to the apartment as well as the rules to follow to live together.

I dropped off my suitcase then I went to explore the city a little and take advantage of the sun that had appeared.

My first impression was that I was surrounded by buildings, lots of people were sitting outside drinking coffee or beer. I quickly noticed that there was a culture with different origins and that people seemed nice here even if I understood that people didn’t live with much.

After buying food I returned to the apartment and was able to meet the other 3 roommates, there is Gabi, Adri and Dani they from Spain and Savas from Turkish, they are all a good people.

For my first day in the association, I was with Savas because he work for Rato, I was able to meet Mimi and more people who work in the association like Justyna, Nuno, Monica and Tiago, they are all very nice with me, they integrate me well and reassure me.

During the day Nuno and Mimi are explain me my work which consists of making a blog per week, making an explanatory video on how to use the applications, and helping during the activities.

Everything is going well, I manage to speak with people despite my level of English and my French accent. People invite me to be in the group while going to drink coffee with them or to go to a municipal party.

To keep myself busy after the association day I go to the gym to do sports and boxing then I go home to talk to my roommates to improve my English then I do 2 English lessons on my phone before sleeping. I don’t forget Portuguese, I try to remember one word by day and use it. See you soon : )
