More than a week has passed from the previous post I made. So, what’s happened during this period? Not much, but I managed to explore a little. Whether it was the area of suburbs I live in or one short night visit of Lisbon. I will try to keep it short and sweet.
First thing I want to share with you is that I have discovered a beautiful place, Moinho de Maré de Corroios, just by walking around. I hadn’t looked for it on any map or in any tour guide, and no one recommended it to me. I randomly found it, and I guess that’s what makes me so happy about the whole thing. Watermill built in the mouth of the river Tajo, surrounded by small islands full of grass and numerous species of birds. It was just sitting on the bench, observing locals enjoying their free time: having discussions, walking around with their dogs, or doing bird-watching. It takes only ten minutes to walk there from my workplace, so I will be revisiting it for sure.
Another great location to go to is Almada Forum, a huge shopping mall with everything. And I get it, we have them in every bigger city. So why am I even putting this paragraph here? Reason is pretty simple: I found a shop, which sells CDs with a special offer: 3 for the price of 15 euros. Naturally, I extended my collection with additions from Alt-J or Charli XCX and created a jazz + soul corner, adding Billie Holiday, B. B. King, and Etta James.
One evening, I went to Lisbon. I experienced just a glimmer of the nightlife, which the city offers, and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Drinks are very cheap; you can order basically anything, and you will probably get a free shot on top of that. People are having a good time, however, streets weren’t as lively as I expected, but maybe another day I will get the chance to have a proper, proper experience. Buildings are beautifully old and aesthetically pleasing to look at. You want to wander around and explore every hidden corner, because you know that you will discover something special.
Yesterday our mentors showed us a truly wonderful corner of Almada: a viewpoint from where you see the whole Lisbon panorama. It has gardens, a fountain, statues, and a small amphitheatre. At first, it seemed a bit tiny, but when we walked around it fully unraveled its terraced structure, and I was in awe. There were so many places, where I wished I could stay for a while, just enjoying the view.
Other than that, I’m going to work – trying to do my best. 😀 I’m slowly finding balance between responsibilities, free time with others, and me-time to focus on things ahead of me.
