Another week is passing by. I’ve been doing a lot of walking (which my feet have not been grateful for!), during my day trips to and Sesimbra.
In Sesimbra we hiked to a hidden beach with beautiful rock formations. The hike was a killer with the Portuguese weather but the views were totally worth it! In there’s a lot more shade so walking around it was more pleasant. I made a stop at the Quinta da Regaleira and Palacio de Monserrate, I still have the most popular Pene palace to see, but Sintra is too big to see it all in one day.
I will definitely go back there a few more times to really get a grasp of it. Both cities were some of my favourite places I have seen in Portugal so far.
What has been on my mind as I was walking around in Sintra is how little I need to fell happy with my life.
In today’s day and age we constantly compare our lives to others´. We see all the things that others have and we don’t, we are constantly bombarded by ads telling us we need more. I have been trying to reject this lifestyle, and actually appreciate what I have.
Once you have a healthy body and mind, good relationship with your close ones, there is not much more that you need. And so I was walking down the streets of Sintra, with the buildings lit up by the sunlight from the golden hour sun, and I thought that it doesn’t get much better than that.
I encourage you to try and take this perspective on life sometimes.
