5 board games to play during lockdown

It seems like these days most of us are staring at their phone or computer screens all day long. We don’t realise it might be a big problem for our health. It might even affect our interpersonal relations, social and mental sphere. That’s why I think having board games in your house is a must. It’s a savior on family meetings, boring Sunday afternoons and surprising visits of a friend. Also, it’s a great opportunity to get to know new people or just to have fun at a party. In my case, playing board games during lockdown is something that helps me with my well-being and makes me feel a lot better.

Here are my favourite board games:

Dixit

The game is based on the fact that one person in the so-called round. The “storyteller” comes up with a password for the card of his choice. It could be anything like “the end of the world” or “Spiderman”. The rest of the players guess which card the storyteller chose. Dixit allows you to get to know another person amazingly, develops your imagination and binds the group together.

Exploding Kittens

It is a great game to play with friends. The players draw a card every turn until they draw an exploding cat – then the unfortunate person explodes and dies, and the game is over. But there are also cards in the deck that can distract the suicidal kitten, avoid it, or make your opponent draw several cards at once.

UNO

Each player is dealt 7 cards and the rest are placed face down in the middle of the table.

We start the game by placing the first card from the pile on the table and then the players successively add one of their cards, which must match the one with value, colour or symbol. If a player does not have a card to play, he draws one card from the pile and if it matches, he may add it in the same turn.

5 Seconds Game

It’s a very simple and fun game. You have to answer questions (often exchange something) within five seconds – time is measured with a special timer from which pebbles fall. Five seconds is a lot of fun, exercises your ability to think quickly and is addictive for hours. You can play with it even with two people.

Cards Against Humanity

It’s my favourite game, I played both the English and Polish versions. Both are very funny! The rules of the game are very simple. In each round, one player asks a question from a randomly drawn black card and the other players choose the funniest answers out of the 10 white cards in their hand.
