Making myself comfy here

Ciao! Once again it is wednesday and that means it’s time for a new post here! Lots of big-small adventures happened this week, so take you water (to say that it’s hot here, it would be an understatement), make yourself comfy, here’s my weekly recap:

As the days go by, I am slowly settling in here: I picked the best cup for my morning coffee, experienced my first one-person party; found favorite shop, where I buy local fruits and veggies. Im starting to create habits unique to this place, and this place only. Fell in love with sitting on my balcony at night and reading Fariha Róisín, when it’s finally cool, and air is actually breathable. Days start to mash into one and it means my body is safe.

On Friday after work I decided to surprise myself and went to a poetry rehearsal (to be fair I was sure it was a jam session with open mic- it wasn’t). I got a chance to practice my writing skills in a very queer environment. Sharing your work isn’t always easy, but due to excellent co-participants I wasn’t scared. On this type of events it’s important to share your talents, your experience to make the whole thing richer, packed with personalities and perspectives. Keeping my fingers crossed I’ll be able to do it again.

THE event of this week- seeing new Spider-Man movie- Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and I must tell you- if you haven’t already seen it, what are you actually waiting for? One of the best animations I’ve seen in the past couple of years. I was holding my breath for almost the whole movie! This and lovely (and discreet) exchange of comments with Sarah made it a truly heartwarming afternoon. Ps. Hobie is the best Spider-Man, and you cannot change my mind.

Regarding my work- I went with my coordinator to school and helped him with workshops about a) presumptions and stereotypes, b) role of digital world in art. Sadly I still do not speak Portuguese (it is a process!!), but we have managed to communicate, youngsters here have no problems with speaking English.

Another huge thing that happened this week is me trying the national treasure, the dessert of God itself- Pastéis de nata. If you ever get a chance to eat this ambrosia- don’t hesitate.

The end of the week we celebrated on a party during a JAZZ OUT session. We danced barefoot, ate fresh blueberries and draw a little bit, but mostly laughed. So many beings in one place just to enjoy music and good weather. And some people still have the audacity to claim that human nature is bad from the beginning.

Ignoring my sun burns and eating unhealthy amount of Pastéis de nata,

drink your water,

Anastas (they/them)
