Olá ! This is Sarah speaking and I come to give you some news.
First of all, I have decided to extend my project. Initially, it was supposed to end in a little more than 2 weeks. But after thinking about it, I have decided to make my stay here longer, almost to the end of this year !
The 1st part of this adventure is ending with the departure of Jola and Kuba. They were here ever since I arrived in January so it’s going to be weird living without them. But when we saw the price of the plane ticket from Poland to France and from France to Poland, we were like “oh okay, see you soon then”. This is really oddly cheap.
Regardless, the second part of this experience – or as I like to call it : season 2 – start with the welcoming of 3 new volunteers in the span of 3 weeks !
We first welcomed Anastas from Poland which will be staying only for a short term volunteering.Then Monya from Jordan who will stay a whole year. And finally, Júlia, also from Poland, who is a short term volunteer just like Anastas.
There is a lot of new people around, but it’s part of the experience !
I had the chance to go to Santos Populares on a friday night. It was the perfect amount of musique, good food and people. The smell of the grilled food was a nice touched. I tried sardinhas grelhadas, it was saltier than I expected but very good. Since it will last all June and almost everywhere in Lisbon, I will probably go again.
Now, with the organization, we decided that it was time to focus on my Portuguese so I could really bring support during the diverse workshops and trainings. I have to think about the best method to learn and assimilate the language. This isn’t an easy task, but what better situation than being in the country itself?
I’m excited to see what season 2 will bring and how can I contribute. Only time will tell.
