Olá a todos ! I’m here to tell you about my trip in Porto !
First of all, no need for me to introduce Porto and its history as there is many blog posts about it already. What I can do however is giving you my thoughts about the city and the general vibe.
I went with one of the friend I met during my mid-term training. We had in mind to do some sort of itinerary to cover most of the tourist spot in a span of two days. We quicly realized that everything was at a walking distance from our resting place and from the city center so we could leisure a little. Nonetheless, it was a fast-paced trip !
We first came accross one of the famous building with azulejos outside of the Bolhão subway station.
We then made our way from Bolhão to the Dom Luis Bridge before we realized that a lot of famous spot we were planning to see were on the way to the bridge. The São Bento station, the Imperial McDonald that looked like Versailles Castle, and even the Cathedrale of Porto. All arount the Cathedral, there was a lot of Miradouros that offered us a beautiful view of Porto. We then passed by Ribeira neighborhood. It looked so pretty, like some ancient city you could find in a fantasy themed comic.
The Dom Luis Bridge was iconic. We could see the 3 bridges next to each other. When we arrived on site, though, I found it smaller than I thought it would. I thought that the distance between the two sides of the bridge were the same as the one from Cacilhas to Cais do Sodré. No one told me this but I just thought it was like this. Turns out that we could walk that said distance in less than 5 minutes. And the view from the other side was really worth it!
We went out in the evening to eat and know how the night life was like around the city center. We had a lot of fun. There was a bar named Torto and the bartender were doing mixology and the cocktails were so good. I recommend it ! The music was amazing. Kind of a late 90’s vibe.
After this, we went home to sleep because we were soooo tired.
The next day was a slower day because we had a bus in the afternoon.
We visited the Crystal Palace Garden and we saw peacocks roaming around freely. Those creatures are very beautiful and they know it ! We tried to go to the Lello Library, the so-called Prettiest Library in the world, but there was a huge waiting line. We didn’t have patience for this and had little time, so we just went to eat delicious crêpes with pistachio topping before taking the bus back.
My thoughts are that Porto is a beautiful city. It’s very pleasant to be there and to walk around. We almost didn’t take any transportation ! The streets were bustling with tourists and some of the neighborhood looked designed to welcome such tourism, so there was a lot of restaurant everywhere. I didn’t see everything I could but 2 days were enough for me. I’m glad I could check this city out of my Portuguese Travel List !
I don’t know what ny next travel will be but for now, I will rest and appreciate all of the places I went to lately. At least, for this week :p
Até jaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
