You probably know that we, the international volunteers, must write an article each week. There are many topics in my mind and experiences I had during my time. However, it is not always easy to find time to write even if I am trying my best to add one more here. I am even writing some parts at home and am completing here in the office. I could and can write about trips or small things that have been done during weekends as mostly other volunteers do but I do not like it if it is not markable. For example, I can write “oh, I went to that part of Lisbon, I really enjoyed with Manuel and Maria (generally with other volunteers) and it was a great weekend” or we did this and that, it was great time for us bla bla”. Good for you guys!! But after that you all are writing about the same topic or only one of you write and others say that person already write and no necessary to write about the same.
I do not like writing just for being written. When I feel and have time, I am writing long ones to make the readers feel the moments and the feelings I was in. I will write about a travel but it won´t be about like a travel blog post. It will involve some special things, such as my travels to watch Cristiano ronaldo, or visiting my old room-mate dear Kuba and his family. I will not write only about the place. Even they do not write about the historical importance of the place, I don´t learn anything when I read from those blog articles. Only I know that those people visited that place, maybe ate a special dish, and that´s it, nothing more.
Why am I writing wholeheartedly is because to leave a mark behind me as well as good memories. There is a say in my language and in Latin as in many languages:
verba volant scripta manent
means “the palest ink is stronger than the sharpest memory”. When I look back and see photos and the notes I took, I am living better feelings and remember better memories. For example, I wrote here about prices of some items such as water, milk, rice, banana etc 6.5 years ago. I will go and check the same items prices again to calculate the inflation. If I did not write about in the past, I would not remember and I would not have another topic to write here. So that will make Nuno happy and smile. Maybe he will throw his great guffaw and I will laugh also. I really like it by the way. 🙂
I checked How many articles I wrote and calculate the ratio and found out that there are around 866 published blog article and 25 of them is mine. So, almost 3% of the articles belong to me. I hope I can write and publish more to increase my statistics 🙂 I do not know they have in mind or not but maybe someday Rato decides to utilize and make a book between those articles, stories of people.
Another hardness about writing article is finding suitable pictures or images. I am taking photos but I am so bad sharing them somewhere. Sharing them is not problem but finding them related, or finding the pictures in my mind among the many pictures, for me is little bit tricky. But I was using the AI generated images for my friends’ projects when they asked me to help them. I recently started to use them for the thumbnails of the tutorial videos on Rato´s Youtube channel as well. It eases process after a few touches, and it´s done. Anyway, the featured image and the in-text image is also AI generated, so enjoy 🙂
