Sem medo…

Yeah! It’s some time ago I wrote something here…but this is life. And I have to work more because I’ve been in Vietnam. But later about this. Now I would like to write something what could be interesting for the next volunteers. The food. Not Nuno’s food, not Justynas food, not the food of the portugese people – the food you will get, if you are going to stay in Rato as Volunteer.

First at all. It ist good food. Well cooked and most the time with a good taste. Where you’ll get the food? Beside the fact that Rato realize some projects with the secondary school of Corroios Rato has an agreement about the Volunteers and their food. All volunteers will get their food in the “school-restaurant”. And it’s nice.

First at all a first impression about what we are talking:

Infront of the balcony you can see two woman in blue. First thing you’ll learn are that they are not woman at the “classical” way, they are more “donnas” – and responsible for anything and everybody. Without them you won’t get anything at the school. And in moste cases they are more friendly like your grandmother.
After entering in the “Restaurant” you have to show your daily voucher and than you can choose. They offer all the time: soup, salad, fruits, bred and oil + the daily menu which is changing all days. It changes between bacalhau, “real” fish, pork, beef, spagetthi, pasta,….

And their is one more big advantage…if you are thin or small or slim – you’ll get at least the double. Everything with the words of the lovely donnas: “Magro, tu estas muito magro.” What means more or less free translated:
“Oh my goodness…you are a lot too thin to exist in Portugal. We’ll get you fat :-)”

Next time I’am going to write somethin about the food in Vietnam…
