He, ho let’s go to Evora

There will be a Guide. A good, very well done guide. Anno 20… But first I am going to tell something about Evora. Evora is nice. Evora is cool. And Evora is calm. More calm than Rato.

Evora is a small, calm village in the beautiful region of Alentejo. And you should visit it during your EVS or SVE in Portugal. Wikipedia will tell you that the Oldtown of Evora is on the list of the UNESCO world-heritage…and it’s really looking like this. But in comparison…

You can go there very easy by train direct from Lisboa. It’s about one our and cost something between 18 Euros. Evora itself is calm, calm, small and calm. Calm like a normal, typical portugese village somewhere in Alentejo or in the back of the “big three”.

Beside the oldtown you’ve the churches. A lot of churches. Because of the majority of daughters and sons of priests we visit more than 5 Churches an Chapels. The most horrible was the chapel of bones. Yeah exactly. Just a church build on bones. Heads and legs. Bones. Fod* – ** .

A few hours after this shock we went to the cathedral of Evora. Something like the one of the biggest in Portugal. But…You have to pay for the entrance. To pay for going in a church. To pay. Money. Something material. How is it possible? To pay…Whatever. It should become better. We paid the entrance and had to pay more. The church was dark. If you want to see a picture or a statue or a cross you had to pay more. To switch on the light. Imagine. To switch of the light after paying entrance for a church. What a vergonha. Whatever.

Café, postcards and Tosta Mista are good and cheap. Also the market.

All in all Evora is nice. Really nice. It’s a perfect town to visit for one day. But we didn’t get it. The flow of the UNESCO world-heritage. Wow wow.

Go for it 🙂
